Product Review of VideoPower GREEN by Ben

VideoPower GREEN is a multi-functional tool bundled into one software that allows users to record video, audio, and screenshots. Despite the simplicity of the application, it packs an array of settings and modifications that enhance the product into a recording software must-have for everyone – students and professionals alike will find this tool incredibly handy.

Upon installation, the software will ask for a registration code. However, if the user does not have one it will default to a trial version with limitations.

Output

In the settings, you can choose where the recorded files are kept by clicking the right-hand-side button beside the directory bar. The directory folder can be opened by clicking the folder icon on the far right-hand side.

Audio Input

These settings can be done on both video recordings and audio-only recordings.

There are four ways audio input can be done with this product:

1. System sound – The sound coming from the computer system will be recorded.
2. Microphone – The sound received by the computer’s built-in microphone or an external microphone will be recorded. This setting is ideal for recording instructional videos.
3. System sound and Microphone – Both will be recorded. This is ideal for recording videos while commentating.
4. None – No audio will be recorded.

You can also change the settings of the audio by clicking on settings. You can change the output format of the audio and the audio quality. There are multiple output formats for the audio.
The audio quality has three categories to choose from, namely: low, standard, and high.

Video recording

There are five ways to capture video.

1. Fullscreen – This setting allows you to record the entire screen of your computer.
2. Region – This setting allows you to record any specific area on the screen that you select. In selecting this setting, there are dimensions to choose from for the size of the video.
3. Web camera – This setting allows you to record yourself through a webcam.
4. Around mouse – Choosing this setting allows you to record a specific area around the mouse only. There are multiple dimensions to choose from.

In the video settings, there are various ways you can enhance or modify the video output.
Note: These settings can only be applied before recording the video. This will not change the video settings once they are already recorded and kept in the directory.

The output format allows you to change the recorded video into whatever format you desire. You can also change the max frame rate and max bit rate. There is also the codec and quality which can be changed to fit your preferred output of the video. The quality offers three categories namely: standard, high, and ultra-high.

There are also a couple of things that you can modify in the recording section of the settings that will not affect the quality of the recording itself but would appeal more to the comfort or convenience of the user. Settings such as show mouse cursor when recording allows you to keep the mouse visible when recording a video of the screen. Another example would show a countdown before recording which gives the user three seconds of leeway before it records anything. These settings can be explored by clicking the Record on the left-hand-side in the settings.

There are various things you can do while recording screen activity. You can record and at the same time insert shapes or texts – a function useful if you are recording a video and you want to emphasize something. You can do this by clicking on the pencil icon while recording in the recording taskbar. Besides that, you can also use your webcam and record yourself while recording the screen activity. This is prominently used by gaming content creators on YouTube.

Another thing to take note of is the mouse style. If you activate the animate mouse style and click on animate mouse clicks, while recording your screen activity, you’ll be able to change how your mouse behaves. In this case, when you left-click there would be a red animation while if you right-click, there will be a blue animation.

For ease of use and to minimize keystrokes, you can also play around with the settings to enable keyboard shortcuts. With these modifications, you can quickly take a screenshot, start/stop recording, pause/resume recording, or show/hide recording toolbar. These settings use combinations of Alt, Shift, and Ctrl keys.

In the settings section, you can enable to run the program when Windows starts. This would enable the startup function of the software wherein it would immediately start when you open your computer or laptop. Lastly, you can also change the settings of the main panel when you click on close – you can either change it so that it gets minimized to the system tray or to exit the program completely.

Screenshot

This software’s feature allows you to take screenshots of your computer screen in various dimensions depending on where you click on the screen.
In the settings, you can also toggle with a few modifications such as hide the main panel or include the cursor in the capture.

Task scheduler

This feature of the software allows you to set the schedule for recording automatically. The start and stop time and date can be scheduled and how long the recording should be. You can also modify to record the full screen, a custom area, with a webcam, or to record only the audio. This is especially handy for people who would like to record on a specific date but would be unavailable or far from their computer.

Upload

This software has an upload feature that allows you to automatically upload the recorded files to a predefined website. The software allows you to upload in six different platforms – ShowMore, YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive, Dropbox, and FTP or file transfer protocol which is a type of file transfer between a client and a server on a computer network.

Video editor

This software also features a video editor plugin that can be automatically downloaded by clicking the pencil icon on the lower left-hand side of the program’s interface. This plugin allows for basic video editing such as adding shapes, pointers, subtitles, watermarks, etc., and video conversion into different formats.
To access this, right-click the file and click edit.

Language

VideoPower GREEN has multiple pre-installed languages for the user’s needs. You can change this in the settings menu by clicking on the language drop-down menu and choosing the desired language.

In conclusion, VideoPower GREEN is a simple and easy-to-use screen recording software that has a lot to offer in terms of modifications and settings.
