In this example, we will convert files to MP4 using VLC Media Player.

From the “Media” menu, click the “Convert/Save” button.
An Open Media dialog box will pop up for file importation.

From the Open Media dialog box, click on the “Add” button to import your file then choose the file from your folder.

Click on the “Convert/Save” button or just press “Enter” from your keyboard.
A dialog box will pop up for convert settings modification.

Choose the output format by clicking the “Profile” dropdown menu and choose your path file by clicking the “Browse” button.

Click the “Start” button to start the conversion.
Your newly converted file will then be saved on the destination folder you specify.

In this example, we will convert the VLC file to an MP4 file format.

To import your WMV file, just click on the “Add files” button or you can drag-and-drop the file directly to the interface.

After the file is imported, it will be added automatically in your file displayed list.

If you need to edit the video file before the conversion, follow the instructions below.

2.1 Open video editor

Click the “Edit” button located beside the “Add file” button or directly click the “Edit” button at the bottom right of your file from the displayed file list.

2.2 Edit video

The built-in video editor will pop up in which you can use to make video enhancements. You can adjust the speed & volume, trim, cut, crop, rotate, or flip videos. You can also add effects, subtitles, and watermark while adjusting the brightness, contrast, and saturation that will make editing conveniently easier.

For example, you can trim your video as shown below:

1) In the video editor, click the “Add Trim Marker” button on the area that you want to trim.
2) You can adjust the trim marker by dragging the mark on the portion you wanted to trim.
You can also add multiple trim markers by clicking several times the “Add Trim Marker” button on the different areas that you want to trim.
3) Set the “Preferences” to “Keep the selected section” if you want to keep the part where you put the trim marker or “Delete the selected section” if you want to delete it.
4) Click “OK” to save the setting.

3.1 Convert VLC to MP4 without sound

If you want to convert the VLC video to MP4 but no sound, this software can do that as well.

Choose “None” to exclude sound or “Add audio” to replace the original audio with any audio source.

3.2 Start conversion

Click the “Convert” button, then the software will start to convert the file to MP4 format by default.
